چکیده
Abstract. We consider a two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba’s spin-orbit interaction and two in-plane potentials superimposed along directions perpendicular to each other. The first of these potentials is assumed to be a general periodic potential while the second one is totally arbitrary. A general form for Bloch’s amplitude is found and an eigen-value problem for the band structure of the system is derived. We apply the general result to the two particular cases in which either the second potential represents a harmonic in-plane confinement or it is zero. We find that for a harmonic confinement regions of the Brillouin zone with high polarizations are associated with the ones of large group velocity.

Quantum Interference Control of Ballistic Magneto- resistance in a Magnetic Nanowire Containing Two Atomic- Size Domain Walls
The magnetoresistance of a one-dimensional electron gas in a metallic ferromagnetic nanowire containing two atomic-size domain walls has been investigated in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. The magnetoresistance is calculated in the ballistic regime, within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. It has been demonstrated that the conductance of a magnetic nanowire with double domain walls...

متن کاملBirth of Resonances in the Spin–orbit Problem of Celestial Mechanics
The behaviour of resonances in the spin–orbit coupling in Celestial Mechanics is investigated. We introduce a Hamiltonian nearly–integrable model describing an approximation of the spin–orbit interaction. A parametric representation of periodic orbits is presented. We provide explicit formulae to compute the Taylor series expansion in the perturbing parameter of the function describing this par...

The interpretation of the ultrafast luminescence decay in [Re(Br(CO)3(N^N)] complexes as a new group of chromophoric imidazo[4,5-f]-1,10-phenanthroline ligands, including 1,2-dimethoxy benzene, tert-butyl benzene (L4) and 1,2,3-trimethoxy benzene, tert-butyl benzene (L6), was studied. Fac-[Re(Br(CO)3L4 and L6] with different aryl groups were calculated in singlet and triplet excited states. The...
متن کاملHall Conductance of a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas with Spin-Orbit Coupling at the Presence of Lateral Periodic Potential
We evaluate the distribution of Hall conductances in magnetic subbands of two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba spin-orbit (SO) coupling placed in a periodic potential and perpendicular magnetic field. In this semiconductor structure the spin-orbit coupling mixes the states of different magnetic subbands and changes the distribution of their Hall conductances in comparison with the case of s...
